WHAT:
New York State will kick off the state’s first-ever Forestry and Wood Products Summit to advance growth of the $23 billion forest products industry. Industry partners and members of the Wood Products Development Council will discuss strategies and opportunities for growing the state’s forest products businesses, which are a major part of the state’s economy and environmental conservation efforts.
Approximately one-third of New York’s forest industry sector is based in the Southern Tier, with nearly $7 billion dollars in economic output. Summit will be preceded by a tour of a lumber mill in Owego.
