SUNY Canton participates in a cooperative one-plus-one program with the Ranger School at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF) in Wanakena. Students who select this career goal complete one year at SUNY Canton and one year at Wanakena, where they will choose between three academic concentrations; Forest Technology, Land Surveying Technology, or Environmental and Natural Resources Conservation. The degree of associate in applied science is awarded upon graduation from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Graduates are prepared for a variety of career positions, or to transfer to a four-year program at SUNY ESF.

Students pursuing this program are admitted to SUNY Canton for the first year of enrollment and application must be made to SUNY ESF for the second year. Application to SUNY ESF for the Wanakena program can be made prior to SUNY Canton or during the first semester of enrollment at SUNY Canton.
